Chichicastenango

The largest and most famous Indigenous market in Central America, in the western highlands.

Twice a week the highland town of “Chichi” hosts the largest Indigenous market in Central America — a dense, vivid maze of textiles, masks, produce, and ceremony.

It’s a window into living K’iche’ Maya culture, layered with Catholic and pre-Columbian ritual at the church of Santo Tomás.
