Privacy & the dispatch
What we collect, what we send, and how to leave — in plain language, no fine-print games.
Last updated: May 2026
The short version
If you join the dispatch list we keep your email (and your first name, if you give it) so we can send you the trip dispatch. That’s it. We don’t sell or rent your details, and you can leave with one click from any email.
What we collect
- Your email address — required, so we can send you the dispatch.
- Your first name — optional. If you share it, we use it to say hello; if you skip it, the email just opens with “Hi there.”
We don’t ask for anything else, and we don’t try to figure out who you are beyond that.
What we send
One thing: the Trip Dispatch — a roughly monthly email rounding up what’s new on the journey (new dispatches, films, and prep milestones on the road to April 2028). It’s content-gated: if nothing new has happened since the last issue, we don’t send. No filler, no “just checking in.” When you confirm your subscription you’ll also get a short welcome email.
Where your details live
The list itself is stored by emcognito, the double-opt-in signup service behind the form — so you have to confirm by email before you’re ever on it. We send the dispatch through Amazon SES, our own sending setup. We don’t hand your address to advertisers or data brokers, and we never sell or rent the list.
Analytics & links
The website uses privacy-light analytics (Google Analytics) to understand which pages people read. Links inside the dispatch carry simple utm tags so we can see which stories resonated — that tells us what to make more of. We don’t use this to build a profile of you.
Leaving anytime
Every dispatch has a one-click unsubscribe link (and supports your mail app’s built-in “unsubscribe” button). No login, no questions, no “are you sure?” maze — it’s honored immediately. Want your details deleted entirely? Just ask (see below) and we’ll remove you from the list and our records.
Reaching us
Reply to any dispatch — a real person reads replies — or email hello@panamtrip.com with privacy or data-deletion requests.
