Guanajuato

A candy-colored colonial silver city of tunnels, plazas, and callejones.

A former silver-mining boomtown wedged into a ravine, Guanajuato is a riot of colour — houses stacked up the hillsides, plazas, and a maze of tunnels and alleyways (callejones) beneath the streets.

It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the Bajío, and a favourite stop on the way south.
