Most of the real learning happened close to home — Pennsylvania weekends spent dialing in storage, power, and the daily rhythm of living in the van.
It’s also the start line: in April 2028 we roll out of PA and point the van north.

The unglamorous, important miles
Not every shakedown is the Arctic. A lot of the real learning happened an hour from the driveway — the weekends where you find out that the thing you stored there is exactly where you need to stand, that the fridge drains the battery faster than you thought, that mornings go smoother if the coffee setup lives by the door.
Those close-to-home trips are where the van slowly turned from a vehicle into a home: a place for everything, a daily rhythm, and a list of small fixes that add up to a build you can trust for three years.
And the start line
Pennsylvania isn’t just practice — it’s mile zero. In April 2028 we pull out of PA and point the van north toward the Arctic, and everything after that is the trip itself.
